Where’s Your Missing Treasure?
I recently read about that man out in California, who, in 1847, owned a ranch there. He read that gold had been discovered in Southern California, and he sold his ranch to Colonel Sutter and started off to hunt for gold.
Colonel Sutter put a mill on the little stream in that farm and one day his little girl brought some wet sand from the raceway of the mill into the house and placed it before the fire to dry, and as that sand was falling through the little girl's fingers a visitor saw the first shining scales of real gold that was ever discovered in California. And the man who wanted the gold had sold this ranch and gone away, never to return.
At the time this story was written in the early 1900’s the mine was not exhausted yet. A one-third owner of that farm has been getting during these recent years twenty dollars of gold every fifteen minutes of his life, sleeping or waking.
What if the man had stayed… Would he have discovered the gold himself? The story didn’t say if he ever learned of the treasure that was found in his own back yard. But it does make you wonder.
"What if..."?
Sadly, many people reach the end of their lives and say to themselves "If only I had done this, tried that, took that chance, talked to that girl, risked more, didn't take things so seriously, etc."
Even as a kid, I remember thinking to myself, "You only get one shot. Life is not a practice game. I better do all I can and do what I enjoy while I'm here." And every day I tell my children the same thing... “Live Life.” Find whatever it is that makes you happy and surround yourself with it.
Life is too short and too precious to waste doing something you hate doing or dealing with the time vampires in life that suck the life right out of you.
Make a decision today to do something you've always wanted to do or take the calculated risk you've always thought about.
Don't wait until "the timing is right." If you keep waiting for the timing to be right, their might not be any time left.
Go for it now.
Sometimes we get so caught up in our own lives that we forget to live… And we get so busy trying to make a living that we can’t see the opportunities to make REAL money.
Delegate your menial responsibilities so you have more time to do the things you truly enjoy doing… Take off the blinders and look around… you may just be walking on gold.
