“We Shall All Hang Together Or Surely We Shall All Hang”

Now I know you have all heard that saying since it is actually part of the Leaders’ Producer Group logo. That was one of many great quotes from one American that I admire greatly, Benjamin Franklin. I’m not sure when he said this for the first time, but my guess is it was probably first stated on September 5, 1774. On this September day, the first meeting of the First Continental Congress was held in Philadelphia.

Remember this date because it is more important than July 4, 1776. If this meeting had not occurred, there could not have been a signing of the Declaration Of Independence...And we may still be under British rule.

When most people think about American independence, they think about July 4th. And although this was a great day in our history, I am intrigued by the actions that set the course. The actions that planted the seed to grow the greatest nation the world has ever known.

The story begins with an incident which took place on March 5, 1770 in Boston. British soldiers were patrolling the street, openly threatening the citizens with their mere presence. The colonist began to express their resentment to the armed men in their midst by throwing stones and calling names. The commanding officer gave the order… “Fix Bayonets…. Charge!”

The battle resulted in death and many injured. This incident aggravated the Provincial Assembly, made up of colonists, to such offense that they called a meeting for the purpose to take action. At this meeting there were 2 men that spoke courageously and declared that a move must be made for the British soldiers to be ejected from Boston. These two men were John Hancock and Samuel Adams.

That was the start. Shortly after, Adams called upon the governor to have the soldiers ejected from Boston. And it was done… but far from over.

Adams had conceived the idea of a mutual exchange of letters between the 13 colonies. The Mastermind Group had begun. And the rest is truly history.

The Importance Of A Mastermind Group

All great achievements in the world have been based on a mastermind group at one level or another. After Samuel Adams refused the bribe of riches for his silence, Governor Gage swore to have the heads of both him and John Hancock. Immediately they called a meeting of their most loyal followers. Adams bolted and locked the door and stuck the key in his pocket. He then informed all that were present that it was imperative that a decision be made to establish a congress of the colonies. And that no one should leave until that decision is made.

One of the hardest things to do is stay the course and continue to be loyal to your dreams, desires and goals. That is why it is so important to remind yourself what they are twice a day. And just as important to have the support of a mastermind group that is sympathetic to your goals.
