The other day I was at the local coffee shop in town, on the counter next to the cash register sit three different canisters for charitable donations of coins. One was for Hurricane Relief, one was for disabled veterans, and one was for some organization for the blind.
As I paid my tab and tossed my change into one of the receptacle, I realized that I always put my change in the same one.
Why?
Believe it or not, I actually stood there for a few minutes thinking about it… Analyzing my own behavior. The clerk must have thought I was nuts… She even asked if everything was alright.
Then it came to me. The reason I always put my change into the hurricane relief fund wasn’t because I preferred this charity over the others… and it wasn’t because that container was more appealing than the others…Nor was it due to the positioning of the canister on the counter… Nope, it wasn’t for any thoughtful or logical reason… It wasn’t even for any sales copy on the container.
No, the reason, and the only reason I always put my change into that receptacle was because it had a bigger opening than the others.

With all of the sales killing policies, rules, laws and forms that exist in financial services, it can be tough to be resistance free… In fact it’s nearly impossible. But what is possible is to make it SEEM effortless to your clients and prospects to do business with you.
You can make your life insurance lead generating process more automated or more understandable… You can be more accessible to them… You can be IN FRONT OF THEM more often. By using newsletters and follow up marketing, you can be there when they are ready to make a purchase.
There may be an even better way that no one is even using yet. Look at how the drive through window spread from one industry to another. For years only banks had drive through windows. Then restaurants, drycleaners and even liquor stores added drive through to make their business more resistance free.
