Life Insurance Agents Should Always Be Fighting!
Back in 2006 I promised my wife that I would watch less football and spend more time with the family. However, I still manage to catch a few minutes here and there.
On September 17th, 2006, I thought I would catch the last few minutes of the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants game. It really didn’t matter to me which team won since I am a “Die Hard” Packers fan. But I do enjoy watching a good game regardless of who’s playing.
When I turned the game on there was about 5 minutes left on the clock. The Eagles were up 24 to 14. It looked like the Eagles had the game in the bag.
And from what the announcers were saying, the Eagles totally dominated the field the entire game. But as fate would have it the game quickly turned around and the Giants were victorious.
Bad Decisions, Arrogance and Miscalculations!
That is truly a recipe for disaster. The game started spinning out of control for the Eagles when Donavan McNabb (Eagles Quarterback) was taunting the defense of the N.Y. Giants to try to draw them off sides.
Big mistake.
He was penalized 5 yards but more importantly, he gave the Giants that emotional spark they needed to get back in the game.
What gets me is why would anyone in their right mind change what’s working for them or ease up just because they’re having some success?
Do they forget the pains they suffer through in order to get there?
Or do they just get bored to death with their success?
If It Aint Broke Don’t Fix It
Some of the greatest marketers I know have spent countless hours and god knows how much money just trying to find their winning ad. But when they find it they stick with it until it can be beaten... (based on testing).
For instance, Ted Nicholas, one of the best marketers in the world ran hundreds of ads for one of his best selling books. But out of all of those ads only 40 worked. Hundreds failed!
Now I’m not saying to stop testing once you have something that works. By all means, Test continuously so you can prepare for the future. But the bottom line is… “If It Aint Broke, DON’T FIX IT!”
Stay Focused on Your Life Insurance Business
If we life insurance agents keep focused on doing the things that work (the things that get us the most life insurance leads and the things that make us the most money) and do more and more of these things (AKA-Big Payoff Actions), we don’t ever have to worry about our commissions again.
We all lose focus sometimes and fall behind the eight ball. But if we can keep our pipeline full of hot prospects… and continuously remind them that you’re there for them… and follow up with existing clients on a regular basis to offer them additional services… You will surely succeed. So don’t let up, keep up the fight!
At the end of each day you should watch the instant replay of your performance. The results will either disgust you or inspire you.
